Intern part-time while going to school!

What is this position?

The Academic-Year Youth Intern works with various students, ranging from 7th through 12th grades, at the direction of the Pastor of Youth Ministries and as a team member of the Youth Department, seeking to understand and address the spiritual and social needs of adolescents and their families. The Academic-Year Youth Intern must have the faith, energy, and vision to reach out to, and relate to students of Village Presbyterian Church and its surrounding community. This part time position allows an individual to explore and experience the vocation of youth ministry while also sharing perspective and ideas to an already vibrant team of youth workers.

What are the qualifications?

All of our Youth Interns must be at least in their sophomore year of college. Two years of experience working with youth, especially in a youth ministry capacity, is preferred but not required.

What are the hours?

We understand that most of our academic-year interns are currently in school, so we are more than happy to work with you when it comes to scheduling. Total weekly hours will likely be around 10-15. Again, hours will vary week to week due to trips and special events.

What is the application process?

We begin the hiring process during July/August prior to the beginning of the academic year. Applicants will submit a one-page typed resumé, a statement of faith, and a letter of recommendation to youth@villagepres.org. From there, we’ll conduct a video or phone interview.

Is this a paid internship?

Compensation is a stipend of $5,000 distributed over the course of the academic year.

Are there any trips?

We have three trips during the school year: the High School Ski Trip (January), the Middle School Ski Trip (February), and the Dominican Republic Mission Trip (March). Academic-year interns are not required to attend any of these trips—however, we definitely prefer and encourage you to come on the trips (and past interns have had an incredible time on these trips!). Trip costs will be subsidized.

Can I still apply if I was already an intern last summer?

Yes! You can apply to this position regardless of how many times you’ve been an intern in the past, or how recently you’ve worked with us. In fact, the experience is preferable!
