Leftover Halloween Candy?

With Halloween around the corner, we are once again calling out for any leftover candy! We collect extra/leftover Halloween candy and put it into care packages for our college students – so fun! You can drop off any candy in the Youth Office, or at the front desk at either entrance to the church (just label it “Youth Ministry”).

Thank you in advance, both from us and from the college students who will receive it!

Harvesters for High School on Friday!

This Friday a lot of students are out of school (hooray!), so we are offering a service day (hooray, again!). We are meeting at the church at 9:30am and then heading over to Harvesters, a food bank, to volunteer for a couple of hours. DON”T FORGET TO WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES!

We are planning to grab lunch afterward as well, so bring a few dollars for that, and we’ll be back at the church by 1:30pm.

Welcome, Jenna!

Tomorrow we welcome Jenna Soltys as the Interim Associate Youth Director on the Village Youth Staff! Jenna’s warm personality, relatability, design skills, and love of God and faith are evident in her interactions with students and adults. Be sure to come by and meet her at any programs after Monday, or feel free to stop by after school! Here is a little information to help you get to know her better…

Jenna was an active member of the youth and jenna-soltysmusic programs at Village growing up. After graduating from SME in 2008, Jenna spent five years at High Point University in North Carolina, worked at Montreat for two summers and two other summers directing music for KidShine Performing Arts Camps. For the last three years she has been living in Greeley, Colorado, completing her Masters in Music at the University of Northern Colorado and working at Cornerstone Community Church.  She is so excited to be back in KC and part of the youth staff at Village!

Sky Zone for Middle School on Sunday!

Hey Middle Schoolers! We are meeting at Sky Zone (Shawnee Mission Parkway & Quivira) THIS Sunday, September 25th, from 1:00-3:30pm. Parents and can drop off and pick up at Sky Zone.

You don’t need to tell us you’re coming, but don’t forget to fill out a waiver (you can fill one out online here) or have your parent fill one out when you arrive on Sunday.

Cost is $20 – so come on out and enjoy the fun!

Volunteer in the Cup!

Looking for some volunteer hours that also give you a free drink, and allow you to interact with people? Volunteer in the coffee shop at the church, the Village Cup!

We are in need of more people to help behind the counter, and with expanded hours we have more options for when you can volunteer. It’s a great opportunity to learn something new, do something fun, and contribute to the life of the Village community.
