Every year we have a variety of trips we take for different purposes: mission, recreation, spiritual formation, etc. Here’s the list of the annual travels and a little bit about each one. You do not have to be a member of Village to attend any of these trips! If you’re interested in participating, visit the forms page for more information.
Village Voices Youth Choir Tour| June 1-4, 2017
For all 7th-12th graders in The Village Voices youth choir! Each year the youth choir heads out for an amazing adventure, spending 4 days singing and exploring a different area of the country. This year’s location will be announced in the Winter! The long weekend will be full of great fun, amazing memories, and led – as always – by the talented and incredible Youth Choir Director, Matthew C. Shepard.
Middle School Mission Trip: Denver | June 16-21, 2017
For all graduated 6th graders through recently graduated 8th graders! Rebuilding Together is a national US non-profit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and bring new life to neighborhoods by providing free home repairs and modifications to low-income homeowners. We will be doing an assortment of activities to bring new life to Denver’s neighborhoods, such as working in community gardens, painting, as well as stairs and ramp construction. This is a great chance to give back to people who truly deserve it!
High School Conference Camp: Montreat, NC | July 22-29, 2017
For all recently finished 9th graders through graduated 12th graders! Montreat is a summer camp/conference center located in the hills outside of Ashville, NC. Each year we take high school students to enjoy the experience of the camp with hundred of other students from groups around the country. Each day we hear an amazing keynote speaker in the morning, experience blended small groups (you meet tons of people from other groups!), have the opportunity for recreation in the afternoon, and return in the evening to hear an incredible preacher. While we are there we rent a couple houses – one for the guys and one for the girls – and each night we have a chance for our group to meet together to bond and debrief the day. Students consistently hail this trip as a highlight of their summer.
Middle School Float Trip: Leasburg, MO | August 1-3, 2017
For all recently finished 6th graders through finished 8th graders! We only do this trip every other summer (during odd-numbered years), so definitely sign up when the opportunity is here! We work with Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort (ozarkoutdoors.net) who have been in the area for many years providing great river experiences for groups. For our time on the water we are renting 6-person rafts with paddles and life jackets. The float is very relaxed, with time to hop out and swim, and we stop for lunch along the way. Each night we will stay in their Deluxe Kozy Kabins – a great way to be comfortable while we are there! So throw on a pair of sunglasses and hit the water for a great trip!
Winter Ski Retreat: Winter Park, CO | January 12-16, 2018
For all 7th-12th graders! Each January over Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend we head west to Colorado for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding. Buses board at the church at 4:30pm and return bright and early (in time for school!) on Tuesday morning. All abilities and experience levels are welcome, although lessons are required for all first time skiers/boarders. Come out out for an amazing weekend on the slopes!
Boundary Waters: Northern MN | July 29 – August 4, 2018
For all recently finished 9th graders through graduated 12th graders! Every other summer (on even-numbered years) we head up north for a week of canoeing and camping. That means we won’t be going in 2017, but the next scheduled trip is in 2018. Keep a lookout for forms to be posted in early 2018 for this always-amazing trip!
