Every year we have a variety of trips we take for different purposes: mission, recreation, spiritual formation, etc. Here’s the list of the annual travels and a little bit about each one. You do not have to be a member of Village to attend any of these trips! If you’re interested in participating, visit the forms page for more information.
Winter Ski Retreat: Winter Park, CO | January 18-22, 2019
For all 7th-12th graders! Each January over Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend we head west to Colorado for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding. Buses board at the church at 4:30pm and return bright and early (in time for school!) on Tuesday morning. All abilities and experience levels are welcome, although lessons are required for all first time skiers/boarders. Come out out for an amazing weekend on the slopes!
Spring Break Mission Trip: Dominican Republic | March 9-16, 2019
For all recently finished 9th graders through 12th graders! Each year over Spring Break we travel to the Dominican Republic for a week of working with and for others. We learn a lot. We work a lot. We laugh a lot. This is an amazing opportunity, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all who attend. Join us as we do construction work, teach English to kids in a classroom setting, and head out to small villages to help with a medical team. This is a unique trip each year and not only do we grow together as a community, but we also change lives of those we encounter, finding ourselves changed in the process.
Village Voices Youth Choir Tour | June 15-21, 2019
For all 7th-12th graders in The Village Voices youth choir! Each year the youth choir heads out for an amazing adventure, spending several days singing and exploring a different area of the country. This year’s location trip will be in collaboration with he All Youth Mission Trip (see below). It is a special event that happens every 4 years!
All Youth Mission Trip: San Francisco | June 15 – 21, 2019
For all recently completed 7th graders through graduated 12th graders! Each summer we travel as a group to help others in need, and every 4 years we take an All Youth Mission Trip (normally the summer mission trip is only for middle schoolers). The last time we did an All Youth Mission Trip was to New York City in 2015. This trip is a perfect way to help others, learn about a wider world, and get to know other students at Village. Each year we come back with lots of stories, memories, and perspective on how to help others in meaningful ways.
Montreat: Black Mountain, NC | July 6 – 13, 2019
For all recently finished 9th graders through graduated 12th graders! This is an annual trip for our high schoolers – heading to the Montreat Youth Conference in North Carolina. Students consistently name this as one of the most influential trips of their high school years. We spend the week staying in rented houses and attending the conference, where students meet other high schoolers from all over the country. We have plenty of time to explore the area as well as spend time with friends in our own group. Enjoy the views, the people, and the unforgettable experience!
Float Trip: Central MO | July 30 – August 1, 2019
For all graduated 6th graders through graduated 8th graders! We only take this trip every other summer, and it is always a great time. We drive out and spend the night in cabins, then spend the next day floating on the river in relaxed waters. After another night of games and hanging out we head back home. It’s a perfect way to spend some of the final days of summer.
